Built-in SEO features in Shopify

1)Shopify automatically generates a sitemap for your website

Shopify automatically generates a sitemap.xml file for your store. It contains links to all your products, product images, pages, collections and blog posts. Sitemaps help Google crawl your site faster and more efficiently.

Sitemaps are generally automatically generated. If you wish to exclude a page from your store’s sitemap, you can do so through the Shopify API (via code). If you’re not tech-savvy, it can be done through an app. In DH SEO, you can create a sitemap by checking the desired pages through the “sitemap” function.

2) Automatically set page redirection

If you change a page’s URL, Shopify automatically creates a permanent redirect from the page’s old URL to its new URL. To create a redirect for your store, you can follow these steps:

In your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps & Sales Channels.

  1. On the Apps and Sales Channels page, click Online store.

  2. Click to open the sales funnel.

  3. Click to navigate.

  4. Click URL redirect.

  5. Click Create URL Redirect.

  6. In Redirect from, enter the old URL from which you want to redirect visitors.

In Redirect to, enter the new URL to which you want to redirect visitors. If you’re redirecting to the store’s home page, enter /.

Click Save Redirect.

DH SEO not only supports URL redirection, but also automatically scans and fixes 404 links. Fixing 404 page errors will not only make your store more search engine friendly, but it will also avoid losing potential customers.
